Mei Zhao
Principal, Public Relations

Having grown up as part of one of the first generation of private businesses in China, Mei added qualifications in media and journalism and spent several years as a successful radio presenter. However, you are never far from the family business in China and these years have given her a deep understanding of not just the day to day business practices in China but also the philosophy of business, without which it is impossible to operate successfully there. She is now a well known figure in the Chinese business community in England.

Sabrena Smikle
Portfolio Manager

Has made a point of not restricting her experience to either the public or private sector and in so doing has acquired a solid background with the practical matters of actually running an organisation. Her education included both legal and secretarial qualifications and a thorough study of the English Language. Sabrena's organisational and financial skills provide a very strong basis for client and partner relationship building that makes her a very valuable member of the team.

Her African links add to her value in working with clients projects as they come up for funding. Having also worked independently and built contacts and a reputation with the international business community Karoline comes well equipped to join the portfolio team.

Nadine Gupta
Portfolios

Nadine has shown that the hospitality industry is a good place to learn how to take care of the needs of our partners. This was her first port of call after university and at her second company, it was her who created the new hospitality team. From there she moved to private banking followed by a sideways move to actually seeking new clients. An excellent background for someone in our portfolio team.

Tendo Haruna
Portfolios

A product of the intensive education system in Japan, Haruna came to London to study business and finance, whilst at the same time polishing her English. Joining a major international Japanese banking house after University, she has been a feature of the City ever since and we are glad to have been able to add her to the portfolio team and benefit from her knowledge of special requirements for funding into Asia.

Hayashi Miwa
Funding specialist

Miwa has spent the last 8 years in the financial sector, specialising in the needs of the natural resources sector. In recent years this focus has led to extensive experience with commodity broking, particularly for energy. Alongside a wide range and depth of specialist contacts and resources has come a thorough understanding of the instruments of the banking sector, not just those needed for such transactions but as tools of investment where she also has extensive contacts and can draw upon substantial funds.

Paul Watson
Business Analyst

There is no substitute for practical experience when it comes to business. To gain this, Paul has acted as the main internal financial expert for a series of small to medium businesses over the last 30 years. Demonstrating that when it comes to the fundamentals, there is very little difference between types of businesses, Paul has worked with firms ranging from food service to management training. This breadth of experience is an additional asset for Pi Global Partners.

Andrew Phillips

Andrew joined the City’s pool of analytical talent when he transferred from mortgages to investment banking, he has now continued on that path for 5 years. We are very glad to be in a position to harness his talents to analysing the project submissions of businesses.

Christine Howes
Business Analyst

South America caught Christine’s interest whilst at school and she has since gone on to learn much about the history and special conditions on the continent that affect businesses wishing to operate there. Her career path has seen her focus heavily on the region but also has added experience in the formal numerical analysis of companies, a key skill.

Michael Tong
Business Analyst

‘It is amazing what you can learn in a Chinese Takeaway’ is a line you will often hear from Michael Tong and the reason is quite simple, he grew up in one. Learning the family business from as soon as he was able to take an order, left him with a deep desire to be in business. Advertising sales was his next stop after leaving university, followed by Human Resources. Along the way he has also acquired accounting qualifications. We like to turn him loose on the nuts and bolts of a business where his insight into why things work is invaluable.

John Phillips
Business Analyst

John has been involved within the IT sector for the past five years and, in addition, the Property sector for more than 7 years. Having held high positions within several start-up businesses his experience has allowed him to gain an insight into the finer workings of business from conception through to eventual sale. Holding a BSc in Computer Science and practical experience within the property development business provides him with the knowledge base required to ascertain strengths and weaknesses within companies at every stage of development.

Andrea Campbell
Business Analyst, Cross border Enterprises

Andrea's early career in sales and marketing for IT training providers is especially valuable for her role as a Business Analyst here at Pi Global Partners. Her studies include Business and Finance, giving her a solid academic background and awareness of the numerical disciplines of business. She is also comfortable with the special expectations of the diplomatic and international communities, positioning her well for international business and for relations with our partners. Together, all these make her a valued addition to the team.

Aleksandr Kasparov
Business Analyst

Business in Russia has changed radically over the last 20 years and it is still a pretty unique place to operate. Aleksandr has been part of this process and considers the changes far from finished. Aleksandr has been involved with the formerly state run enterprises, the new local entrepreneurs and the businesses that have come in from the rest of the world. Now we are pleased to be able to have him on the team, bringing his local knowledge to bear on projects from the Russian speaking world.

Robert Jones
Business Analyst

Coming in from a recruitment and personnel management background, Robert has brought an admirable fund of experience of the requirements for a good team of people to build and develop a business, so that it reaches its potential. We at Pi global partners are glad to have him available to look at the skills and mindsets available to incoming projects.

Elizabeth Johnson

Highly numerate and with qualifications gained whilst working for one of the biggest names in investments to back that up, Elizabeth has been part of the analytical talent pool in the City for over a decade now. Now she has responsibility for investigating how well projects in Asia stack up against reality.

Jann Van der Groes
Analyst, Public Sector

Partnership between public and private sectors has been something of a buzz term for a while and Jann has an ample fund of experience working in both sectors. A former planning officer, who moved to the planning of major infrastructure projects in the Netherlands, Jann was recruited to work on airport expansions in the UK. We are now glad to be able to utilise his talents in screening projects around the world where heavy public sector involvement is expected.

Paul Watkins
Technical Analyst

Very few businesses survive a serious IT failure. Hence one of the reasons we like to get Paul to look over their plans. He has a BSc in Business Information Technology with several years proven experience in IT departments for large corporates. He has also worked on numerous IT projects in the public sector. Paul moved to compliance, working for firms straddling the public and private sectors. A novel period was as part of the technology transfer team for the mobile telecommunications arm of a major industrial group setting up a string of joint ventures in China. An IT contractor must also have a working knowledge of what makes a business, adding to his value to the Pi Global Partners team.
